Moments in Motion

Moments in Motion

The fourth in our ten-part series, An Espresso of Breath – exploring the still moments between inhale and exhale, between sip and soul.

Moments in Motion

Experience moments within your Espresso Moments.

Breathe out now.
Slowly. Let go of the weight you’ve been carrying, the expectation to hurry, the story of  “not – never – enough” time. Empty out the old brew – the old stale ‘shoulda, coulda, woulda.’

Breathe in now.
Soft and steady. Permission to be light and easy – open and unfettered. Let the fresh air fill you – expanding and deepening. Ahhhhh, how freshly it replaces the old, simmers and steeps the new.

This word: Moment, it derives from the Latin root word for Momentum meaning ‘powerful motion, movement.’ Each moment is more than a notch on the ticking clock of time. Every moment is a small transport – a gentle carrying that invites you into communion with it by just breathing. This moment to breathe and brew is a powerful gift, a motion of turning inward.

Momentum isn’t about moving faster; it is about moving powerfully, with presence and poignancy. This beautiful power – the honest kind of the moment at hand – begins within. Here, shift your awareness to your inner world – your inner being. And, as you breathe into it, allow this moment in motion to reveal itself – just for and just to you.

Tune in, not out. If you measure a moment by seconds, you are given more than eighty-six thousand tiny gifts each and every day. Yes, eighty-six thousand little movements and motions. Not one of them is identical. None of them are useless. And, you needn’t even ask or work for any of them.

So, if, no scratch that – when you choose to meet a moment, to be present in in your awareness, and to meet it with intention – you begin momentum of the highest kind. Presence becomes propulsion, as the push and pull of the brew. Stillness becomes strength, as the precision and clarity of the brew. Each moment building naturally upon the last. Every moment cultivating momentum until what once felt lost begins to come home again: your inner being. Just being.

Breathe out now.
Release. Empty. Clear it all out. Empty.

Breathe in now.
Freshen. Flow. Embrace the power drawing into the motion of the presence.

And, in between that breath out and the breath in, your inner world shifts, if even so slightly. Momentum. Momentum of being human. Momentum of humanity itself.
