The second in our ten-part series, An Espresso of Breath – exploring the still moments between inhale and exhale, between sip and soul.
Just One Moment: Home
Stay a moment. You’re here, so why not? You’ve got nothing to lose and so much to gain. This moment really does matter.
Breathe as you brew. And, brew as you breathe.
Breathe out now.
Let the world outside fade, fall quiet for just a heartbeat. Notice the scent and the swirl of this brew. Become aware of the steam that softens the air around you, around the moment.
Breathe in now.
Let these first sips meet you in this – your breath – a sanctuary for one. Taste the moment as you taste your fresh brew. Notice its edges – just one: one sip, one moment, one breath, one you.
This is presence for the moment, in the moment – harmony of your breath and your inner being.
Pause as you pour. And, pour as you pause.
Pause now.
Notice the swirl, the scent, the soft circle of steam rising. Follow it so softly with your gaze – meandering as the air wandering through as you breathe out and in.
Pour now.
Immerse in your senses. Feel how it warms you from the inside out, how it flows in akin to your breath. Slowly, gently, sacredly.
Just one. One moment – here in your breath and brew, in your pause and pour – your being self meets you in an intimate, ancient, and vibrantly alive sacred space. Each brew becomes a conversation with breathing. Every pour invites a pause that needs no conversation. And so, in this moment, you return to the rhythm of life that created you and sustains you – breathing. And, in so doing, you return home.
All it takes is one: one drop, one sip, one moment, one breath, and one gentle return to the one who matters: you.
